Privacy Policy for Giteazy

Effective Date: 2026-10-11

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Giteazy ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you use our desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux (the "App").

2. Information We Collect

Giteazy is a Git client that runs entirely on your own computer. It reads the Git repositories you open locally to display status, diffs, and commit history. We do not operate any backend server, and we do not collect, transmit, or store your code, repository data, or personal information ourselves.

3. AI Features and Third-Party Providers

Giteazy can use AI to analyze your uncommitted changes, group them into one or more logical commits, and draft a commit message for each group (for example, splitting 3 changed files into 2 separate commits). The AI's response is used locally by the app to create the resulting commits in your repository. You choose which AI provider to use in Settings, and you supply your own API key for that provider: Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or a locally-run Ollama instance.

When you use an AI feature with a cloud provider (Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude), the relevant file contents, diffs, and/or commit metadata from your repository are sent directly from your device to that provider's API in order to generate a response. This data is not sent to Giteazy or to us — it goes straight from your computer to the provider you selected. Each provider processes this data under its own privacy policy and terms, which we encourage you to review. If you use Ollama, processing happens on your own machine or your own network, and no repository data is sent to a third party.

Your API key is stored locally on your device (for example in the app's local settings) and is used only to authenticate your requests to the provider you chose. We do not have access to your API key.

4. Data Storage and Responsibility

All app settings and any locally cached data are stored on your own device. We do not host or back up this data. When you use a third-party AI provider, that provider's own storage and retention practices apply to the data you send it, and we are not responsible for how that provider handles it.

5. Third-Party Services

Giteazy does not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking services. The only third parties involved are the AI providers you explicitly choose to connect, as described above.

6. Security

We take reasonable care in how the app is built, but no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of data you choose to send to a third-party AI provider.

7. Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
